Is there such things as luck and destiny?

Luck can be define as "believing that whatever happens, either good or bad, to a person in the course of events is due to chance, fate or fortune". Its much like destiny, because destiny is define as "the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future; fate". So basically luck, destiny  are related. I find this interesting because its like a "power" that controls us. So technically we have no free will because everything is already controlled in our lives. So we basically have no say in our lives. Well this what the dictionary defines luck and destiny. But I don't agree with those definitions. I dislike when people that they will  wait destiny or fate to happen because I believe that you make your own destiny or fate. You don't have to wait for things to happen. You can make those things happen by taking action. Blair Waldorf  from Gossip Girl said, "Destiny is for losers, its just a lame excuse for letting things happen to you instead of making them happen"...
